Q: If I live in a different county, can I shop at Love Thy Neighbor?

A: Yes!  Everyone is welcome, no matter where you live.

 

Q: If I am not a US citizen, can I shop at Love Thy Neighbor?

A: Yes!  Everyone is welcome.

 

Q: How often can I shop at Love Thy Neighbor?

A: Every week, once a week.

 

Q: What paperwork do I need to bring?

A: None.  We will put your information into our computer system, but it is all self-declared.

 

Q: Do I need an appointment to come shop?

A: No.  If you don't have an appointment, please come shop as a "walk-in" during our open hours.  While you're there, the registration desk can give you an appointment time for future weeks.

 

Q: Why do you give appointment times?

A: Our parking lot is very small, so we have to spread people out over time.  If everyone came at opening time, the line of cars would stretch down Journal Parkway and jam up the parking lots of our neighboring businesses.  There is an urgent care at the bottom of the hill and it is very important that they keep their ambulance lane open in case of emergencies.  Plus, if everyone comes at their appointment time, then there is not a long wait time for anybody!

 

Q: I have an appointment; can I come on a different day?

A: Yes, we understand that life happens, so we are willing to be flexible.  If you've got something that will block your appointment time, feel free to come as a "walk-in" on a different day.  (Be mindful that if too many people use or abuse this privilege, it will cause traffic problems and we will have to change our policy.)

 

Q: Why doesn't anyone answer your phone?

A: We can't afford a secretary.  Our phone goes straight to voice mail, your message gets transcribed to text automatically, and that text goes to one of our team members.  We respond when we can, but the simple fact is that some days we are stretched thin.

Q: You didn't have very much food when I came. 

What's up with that?

A: We wish we could have plenty of food, of all kinds, all the time.  We work very hard every week to bring in food donations from multiple sources.  Some weeks we get smaller donations than other weeks.  We do not have a warehouse or much extra storage space, so it's difficult for us to "even out" distributions over days or weeks.

 

Q: I got a traffic ticket and need to do some community service hours. 

Can I do that at Love Thy Neighbor?

A: Yes!  Sign up to volunteer here. Our volunteer coordinator will be in touch - please let them know you need documented community service hours.  Every time you come volunteer, we will log your visit to document your service.
